We've all been there. That free fall towards a bottom you can't quite see. The struggle to get back up, to stop falling. It could be from a loss of a friend, a loved one, a mid-week slump or even just a loss of motivation towards school or work. Whatever it is, we've got to get back up on our feet!
I've been facing my own kinds of problems lately and I've found a few ways that have helped me to cope.
1. Surround yourself with good companyFind someone that will listen to you, give you advice (if needed) and will not steer the conversation to themselves be it a friend or a family member. Do not seek out any individual who doesn't 1) care about your problems, 2) can't focus on you and tries to move the conversation back to themselves and 3) doesn't have time for you.
Talking to someone and sharing with them about how you feel is so helpful in so many ways. By confiding in another, it assures you that you are not alone! Also, keeping your emotions to yourself and trying to stuff them into a corner isn't going to help in the long run. From my personal experience, it usually gets worse as the only thing you are compromising is your own self-respect.
2. Give yourself space to breatheGet yourself out of your room, your home and your slump by dressing up and having fun with your friends! If you can't do that, go for a stroll around your neighbourhood, read a book you've been putting aside because you don't have any "time" or just watch a YouTube video.
Putting aside this little window for yourself helps so much as a distraction, de-stressing and it's a way of telling yourself how much you respect you.
3. Accomplish something you've been putting aside for awhileIt could be that dirty laundry in your room, the clothes you've chucked aside without folding or cutting your hair. Tick all those undone tasks off!
P.S. I know I haven't been writing as much and I want to change that! Let me know in the comments or on Instagram what you'd like to see. :)
